Long Term Courses

 

General English: Beginners to Advanced Levels*
2 - 40 weeks

2010 Fees: AUD305.00 per week

General English offers English for students preparing for entry into the Secondary School Preparation Program or English for Academic Purposes course as well as English language development and recreational English.

 

Secondary School Preparation Program (SSPP)*

2010 Fees: AUD305.00 per week

Prepares students to enter Junior or Senior secondary school in a UIL partner school.
Junior high school entry (years 8-10)             20 week SSPP
Senior high school entry (years 11-12)          10 week SSPP

 

English For Academic Purposes (EAP)*
10 weeks

2010 Fees: AUD305.00 per week

Provides students with the necessary skills to feel confident to commence studies at tertiary institutions.

 

IELTS Preparation*
10 weeks

2010 Fees: AUD305.00 per week

Prepares students for the IELTS exam.

 

English for Business Purposes*
10 weeks

2010 Fees: AUD305.00 per week

Assists to improve business English skills particularly in reading, writing and speaking.

 

Cambridge Exam Preparation
12 weeks

2010 Fees: AUD305.00 per week

Preparation for first Certificate in English (FCE), Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) and Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE). These courses prepare students for the Cambridge exams.

Course Entry Requirements

Upon application to UIL, you will be required to complete a UIL Placement Test. The results of the test will indicate your current English level. UIL will provide a Recommendation which will advise the correct course/s and duration as a pathway to your follow on institution or personal goal. Any supporting documentation you have provided with your application form (i.e. IELTS test result) will also be used to assess your current English level. 

 

Course Assessment

A test of all 4 macro skills specifically aimed at testing proficiency levels in the stated learning outcomes will take place at the end of each 5 weeks of study. Final results incorporate ongoing and formal assessment test results.
